Clay Animation

I am going to be starting a project soon with my students creating clay animation videos. I have the Frames software and the right type of clay. the problem that I am having is with the actual animation of the objects! Anyone able to help me out here? I can't figure out how to animate the objects other than making it a slide show, but that is boring and not the intent I am looking for!

Anyone with any advice or experience in this type of project would be a great help to me!

Claymation is generally done as stop motion animation which means taking still pictures of the clay figures. You take a picture of for example the figure standing still, then you move the leg a little, snap a picture, move other leg, take a picture, etc. Then you take all those pics and put them in the video editing software and put them all together. The other option is to video tape it, create the movements with the clay and the edit it down.

There is a stop motion like app for the iPad which takes full frame video and produces it as stop motion. Not sure this will help you.

I have finally, almost successfully completed the clay animation project with my students. A few comments about the project. The clay part takes a really long time and without having my class every day (I only see them once a week), the students quickly lost interest in the clay figurines, however remained excited about the project. They did enjoy the project as I enjoyed being there to learn with them and guide them through the program and the steps. I am posting the link to 1 group's project which I believe they were very proud of!
