YU 2.0

I am starting this discussion thread as this will be my first time attending the conference. I am told the conference has around 15,000 attendees and hundreds of sessions. I am in the process of choosing my sessions. Would love any advice or guidance from those who have attended before on things not to miss, tips and tricks and anything else that would be helpful to make this a wonderful experience.

Eliezer (and all others...) I have been an ISTE memeber for years and I finally was able to attend the conference last year in Denver.  I arranged to spend the Shabbos before and then on Sunday started with the "special" meetings that are not part of the main conference. It was well worth it!!!  One note: there are literally THOUSANDS (over 20 K last year!) of people at this event.  Get to all sessions very, very early to get a good seat (and the free give-aways!!)  Don't forget to check out the "birds of a feather" session for Jewish Educators.  They have a blog going on the ISTE conference site (under the birds of a feather sections) to coordinate people attending and people who want to contribute.  Alas, my school does not have enough money to send me and the chance that I will be awarded the Avi Chai grant is relatively small, so doubt that I will be attending this year... sigh......   ALL THE MORE PRESSURE TO YOU WHO WILL BE THERE TO BLOG, TWEET, ETC SO THAT WE CAN LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOU!!!  regards.... Some popular speakers are marked in the program as "ISTE Spotlight" presenters.  If you go to them, get to the room early - they tend to fill up.  Many of them may be live streamed and recorded, which is another option.  If a session doesn't jive for you, don't be afraid to politely leave and look for something that resonates.  Lots of stuff happening in hallways, strike up conversations, and leave room for serendipity :)  Should be fun! Looking forward to seeing people there!

Chevre,

I intend to be at the ISTE conference as well and look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Eliezer et al - thanks for starting this thread.  I am going to ISTE for the first time and am very excited and a little overwhelmed.  I'm not sure how to schedule a draft agenda, but I'm beginning by spending time on the site and reading the descriptions.  I welcome all suggestions.  I'm also open to an ISTE buddy who can answer questions.  Looks like their is a ISTEnewbie lounge https://sites.google.com/site/istenewbielounge/ that is worth checking out.  See y'all in San Diego!

Debby, Caren, Eliezer and colleagues,

I look forward to seeing you at this year's ISTE conference. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which sessions are a "must see"?

Shavuah tov,

Richard
