Technology in every classroom can and must be implemented…

This past September I became an educational technology coordinator at an Orthodox Jewish day school. I had been a technology teacher at this school for 8-years prior to taking on this new role. I knew that one of the most challenging aspects of taking on this position was to get those that do not believe in using technology as a teaching tool,  to believe. This past week, an Ivrit teacher, a 26-year veteran at our school, used technology in her classroom for the first time ever! The Morah’s…See More

This year my school began offering elective courses for elementary students.  One of the courses that was offered was digital storytelling.  When I was asked to teach this course I was super excited, but I was concerned about how I would assess the students.  There was not a prerequisite to take this course, so I knew that I would have beginners and expert students, and that I would have to differentiate, but I really did not know how to create a rubric and assess them. Lucky for me...I found a…See More

Mobile iPad class

Recently my school deployed an iPad cart equipped with 27 iPads.   I expected teachers to utilize resources that I have provided that would enable (and encourage) them to want to incorporate an iPad or the set of iPads in their instruction.  Up to this point it seems that teachers want to use them as a "reward," and allow their students play an educational game.  I envisioned teachers using an app that they could use as a teaching tool and ignite students' interest and improve their delivery. …See More
