Is technology adding to ADD?

Recently i sat in on a class that was completely unrelated to edtech but the teacher was using a prezi to give over the material. Since I fancy myself a visual learner, I personally found the prezi…Continue

The unlikely Blogger now loves EdTech!

For the bast several months I've been privileged to be enrolled in an online certificate course which is geared to train teachers in all things EDTECH. Of course I wanted in! Although i love technology, admittedly, i was completely unfamiliar with the seemingly endless new terms that have invaded our daily vernacular. Technical terms like blog, moodle, jing, twitter, WIKI, and social networking. I certainly had SOME knowledge of these things but could not say with any certainty that i knew…See More

Why I love Blogger.com

I have really enjoyed the use of this site. I think that a new teacher can really benefit from the ease of use and the ability to post quickly and effectively. I am hoping to encourage my students to create their own blog site  using blogger this year in my Drama class. Students will be able to submit posts in their character's voice and submit it for the rest of the cast members to see. I can also extend this assignment to the backstage crew. They can blog about the new skills they are…See More

Look Whos a SearchyPants NOW! ;)

As a 3rd grade teacher whose obsessed with the Internet and technology I'm often faced with several problems when i want to integrate the Internet into my classroom. First and foremost is content. I want to make sure that when i tell my young students to search the Internet for information on a biblical personality or to research a Jewish concept from our seminar that they wont accidentally stumble on something completely wrong for them.

This problem follows me into class when i want… Continue

This week i saw an awesome lecture entitled "And the Best Free Web Tool Award Goes To..."

In it presenter Adam Bellow of EDUTECHER acts out a mock awards show for the best of the web 2011. He presents some amazing free webtools that have many applications in the classroom. The tool i found so compelling was Pesent.me

After seeing how this tool works i got the same feeling of excitement as the first time i saw a Prezi. Basically you… Continue

WIKI WIKI WHAT??!

Posted on September 18, 2011 at 6:51pm 0 Comments

This past summer while i was in grad school we were assigned a collaborative assignment. Four people had to come together to create a report on a current trend in education and present it to the class with multimedia presentation tools. When our group was created we started by emailing each other ideas but it became cumbersome and inefficient. We then decided to use a WIKI and our lives got much easier. Instead of mass mailing an idea to the group we simply edited our project wiki and hit…
