This is cross-posted on my TechRav blog and my TanachRav blog.
I am planning to try the Flipped Classroom model this year in my Nach class. We are learning about Shivat Zion through Sefer Ezra/ Nechemiah, Chagai, Zechariah, and (maybe) Malachi.
Here are my first 5 videos on Ezra Chapters 1-3 with HW assignments as a Google Form for each of them. I welcome your constructive feedback.
1. Ezra Chapter 1, Verses 1-6
3. Ezra Chapter 2

These videos look great but I think could be a more engaging form of homework than simply reading the text. I am more curious, though, to hear what you (and other teachers who are trying this) are doing differently in the classroom as a result of these homeworks. My understanding of the "flipped classroom" model was that the goal is not simply to give students more homework or more engaging homework to extend the class' learning time but to allow students to be able to work on (math, for example) problems in class with the teacher's assistance. What more collaborative or active learning have you been able to try in the class as a result of these videos? This has been the biggest challenge in my mind in applying the Khan academy model to judaic studies (or literature) where objectives are often not completely skill focused.
