In Chapter 4 of the book "Technology Integration for Meaningful Classroom Use" we learned how computer technology (software and websites) can be used as a tutor, a mindtool and as a support for conversation. In addition, we learned that there are many ways in which technology can foster creative thinking and good conversation starters in many different classroom settings.
I use a website for parsha study in 6th grade called G-d Cast. This is a quote from the G-dcast website that accurately describes what it is:
"G-dcast is a non-profit production company dedicated to raising worldwide Jewish literacy using the tools and storytelling style that speak to today’s youth. To date, we have created over 70 short films - all available for free on this website - based on Jewish texts that have been viewed nearly a million times on the web, social media networks and mobile devices."
I use this website on a weekly basis. It provides educators with a great synapsis of the parsha and intriguing discussion questions that can be used before and/or after watching the video. Through the discussion the students are able to see how the Torah and Parsha are still relevant to their lives today.
Give it a look and let me know what you think.
